wow, I hadn't heard about that. I'm on ebay at least 4x a week. My feedback is 12, 100%. Should be about 16. Biggest purchase was about $400, actually about 3 of them. My rims, tires, and a digital camera. I always check how much shipping is and I will not bid on anything that says shipping cost to be determined after the auction is over.
I am at 70 with 100% shoudl be around 80 but people just don't leave feedback. I just recently purchased a set of 35 inch ground hawg tires one chrome rims for $510 only thing was it was an 8 hour drive each way to pick them up but was a great deal. I paid in person so no worry of getting ripped off.
What is the best way to handle shipping if you are a seller. Say it is something slightly smaller then a computer and about the same weight as an example.
I give dim's themselves, if they can't figure it out, their problem, approximat4e the weight. Be warned, the online shipping price is sometimes (most of the time ) different than what you pay when you go do it...

Box it up, throw it on the bathroom scale, round up one pound, and plug the numbers into UPS.com. I use 90210 for my destination and use that shipping charge in the auction. It's never been more than a buck or so off. Once the auction closes, I usually just send it by UPS, they'll come by and get it. Smaller stuff goes by USPS.
As for selling stuff....I start the bidding at the least I'm willing to take. If it's not worth it to someone else, they won't bid. If it is, they know exactly what the price is. I don't mess with reserves, because there's people who won't bid seriously on it (I'm one of them). No fun bidding against the seller.

well i usually start my auctions at 1.00 no reserve and if it dont look good ill end the auction however i put in BIG BOLD letters in the auction body that "I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION FOR ANY REASON!!" that way i dont get ripped off. What usually makes it easier is the impulsive last min bidders who end up giving me a nice surprise in the AM when i see that my auction went from $150 to $400 in a matter of hours.....people may get pi$$ed off that i do the end auction deal but to each their own i got 100% positive for a reason...cause i do good business
i just got screwed really bad on ebay... bought a set of valve covers, sent payment right away. No biggie, til about two weeks later, and I hadn't heard from the guy. He gets mad at me, says its the most ignorant email he's ever gotten. I just wanted to know when he sent them. he said maybe next tuesday.... I said ok, send me a tracking number when you send them. *never once did he ask for my address* a few weeks later I ask where they might be... he says I'm a jerk, and that he doesn't know... I said WTF? he finally gives me a tracking number, on friday around 6pm.... I go to UPS.com... and track it. Its been sent to some non existant address here in town. Its sitting at the UPS depot here. I call tuesday (monday was the fourth observance) they say its been returned to the sender. I ask him to resend them, and notify him that I won't pay shipping charges again, being as this is totally bogus that he just invented an address...
i get an email tonight that he is finally gonna send part of my payment to me, and that I should leave positive feedback....

I'll take what you can get back then contact ebay & sqaure trade about the deal. Paypal also if you used them to send payment. Then leave the negative feedback. Deals like that don't deserve a positive at all.
I just made my first bid tonight in almost 6 months. Found a $1300.00 exaust system for one of my motorcycles listed for $50.00. I bid $300.00 for it & hope I win.
I need the exaust system to finish that bike but was to cheap to pay Yamaha the high dollar they want.
If he gives the money back, neutral, even if he delivers, neutral, otherwise neg. Neutral show you aren't happy, but aren't as bad as neg, but no satisfaction, definite neg.
$1300 for a motorcycle exhaust system? I must be living in the twilight zone. I remember buying a used truck and putting in a rebuild engine for that much.
I always have had good luck with e-bay in general
got ripped off one time on a ps2 game
but have made many good deals
I just wished more people left feedback
my score is
Feedback Score: 177
Positive Feedback: 100%
Mine is 99, all positive. No bid retractions. Its amazing how many times I bid on something and wind up losing. Then I get a "second chance offer." It seems too many people take ebay as a joke.
Here is a very good tool if you want to place a bid automatically at the last second. I have used it several times with great results. I typically use it if I will not be around a puter when the auction is going to end. It only costs .25 per win and you get 3 free ones to start.
I agree with Mike W $1300 for a motorcycle exhaust.....wow
To the thread.....my feedback is 205 with two negatives from sellers who got the money for the item but never ship anything After a complaint at ebay the seller has been cancelled (he got 24 neg. feedbacks from several bidders in only one week)
I never give a feedback first in the future and so I have nearly 20 outstanding feedbacks ....
BTW every deal with you guys and gals on the other side of the atlantic ocean was very smooth and I want tho thank you for that
I use Ebay for little things like book and such. I used to make some big ticket buys like guns but they chose to get out of that business. I have since been hesitant to give my money to ebay unless I could get items of better price elsewhere. I have sold some stuff on ebay and you would be surprised at how many nut cases there are out there who refuse to pay anything for shipping. I had a guy in Switzerland, last summer, who insisted I second-day-post him a five pound book. That came up to like $100 shipping for a $10 book. He totally refused to pay ANYTHING for shipping even though it was clearly marked in my description and I even offered to help pay half for ground/sea shipping. For guns and stuff I use one of the free traders online (gunboards.com) or Auction Arms.
