Need help urgently

Hey all.

I set out this morning to change the oil in my '94 Power Stroke. I've done this before, so I know what I'm doing.

Drain oil, no problem. As I was removing the filter, I heard a scratching sound. I got nervous. Things shouldnt make such sounds. In either case, I got the filter off, and now I have a little black plastic circle, and a spring, and I dont know where they came from. There's a hole under the filter that they might go in, but I dont know how they stay. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Blake

its just probably the bypass from oil filter you took out.
some have a device that if filter gets to plug or restricted oil will bypass filter throught a port that is spring loaded
