Smoke Switch

I know that you can put a smoke switch on a motor with a waste gated turbo but can you put one on a VGT turbo motor, such as the 6.0. My dad wants to put one on his 04 truck for some fun. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Blake

No...he doesn't want a tuner. I have tried to talk him into it but he says no. He just wants a easy way to let some smoke out on the little gassers around here.

It can be done. I have seen one in person. Dont try to pull out in front of somebody b/c the truck wont get out of its own way when the switch is on! It will smoke like i freight train though if thats what you are looking for

All you do is tie into the VGT control wire with a switch so you can kill the power to the turbo thus not creating boost. With no boost, there isnt any air to clean the fuel which then gives you lots of black smoke. Someone correct if im wrong but that is the simple answer i think

why would it be bad for it? All your doing is preventing it from building boost. I would be more worried about all the unburnt fuel throughout the entire motor/exhaust.

Make sure he takes his cat off.

I don't really understand how hooking up a switch to the veins would do much though. You describing the turbo refusing to spool up and the truck just ******* down. The stock turbo isn't that big it should start to spool pretty quick with the veins wide open. There are plenty of guys running not vgt turbos that are bigger than stock and they say there's not much of a difference over stock. I can smoke out the block if I stomp on it from a dig I don't know why you would want to do anything more than that.
