Good Afternoon,
I'm totally new to this forum idea so please bare patience. My GT is approaching 110K miles so I know I'll need help frequently. I hope I can return the favor of whomever's advise throughout time.
With that said, I have two issues.
My driver's side window does not work. The motor still works and it is still on track, but does not move.
my air went out but only for about an hour. Is this a switch thing?
Could you be a bit more specific on the vehicle. Year, model and such would be helpful. Give a good description, engine size, things like that.
As for the Air going out, what do you mean? Did it go out while driving, does the fan still work, again specifics and info are very beneficial.
When your writing just remember we can't see or hear your problems, so description is important for assistance.
Sounds like the window gear inserts are bad. Pretty common on Ford power windows.
And, yes, more info on vehicle, engine, etc is a big help in identifying problems.

The air issue - the fan still worked so it was blowing air, just not cold air...just to remove all doubts, I did check to make sure I had it on A/C setting. It worked when I started the car but after a few minutes, it started blowing warm air. Later that day, after driving for a few minutes, I decided to check it again and it worked fine. That was Friday and so far it's remained functional. Because of this, I'm not in a dire situation but obviously something I need to check out before I'm stuck in the Central Florida summer without air.
Window - I can hear the motor working when I engage the button and I am able to pull the window up and down manually since it is still on track. I read somewhere that the motor turns a armature which turns a gear within the box. The gear has three nylon barrel shaped components which causes the unit to engage the window apparatus. Evidently the nylon barrels shatter eventually and the motor spins away and does nothing. The article recommended purchasing an aluminum rod that is 3/8" in diameter, carefully cut three lengths of that rod to be the length pf the previous nylon barrel and assemble the motor/gear assy rather than purchase a new or used motor assy.
Just wanted someone else's thoughts before I start taking my door apart. Many of my friends own stangs but they bought the new motor when encountering this issue.
The A/C issue sounds like a recharge scenerio. If the system has never been serviced, it may need a new orfice tube and such.
The window situation I believe falls into LxMan1' turf. Personally I would just replace the drive motor.
One suggestion, I would buy a Haynes book ($11), its very good at details in removing and replacing most anything on your vehicle. Its saved me a lot of mechanics bills.
I have done the 3/8" rod thing, it it kinda works, but the barrels are not exactly round and sometimes if the window is opened or closed too tight, it will lock up. AutoZone sells replacement gear kits for usually under $20 per window. I use these kits now, less hastle.

Sounds like either low refrigerant or possibly either a faulty a/c compressor relay or pressure switch.
The A/C thing could have been a stuck relay, or possible a failing pressure switch. If it is cooling good, I would doubt that it needs recharging. Sounds more like an electrical problem, such as a switch or relay.
