I have a 03' SD V10. I just ordered the banks full power pack. I chose not the get the ottomind chip and instead I wanted to get a diablo chip. I need to run a chip to compensate for the long tube headers, so my O2 sensors wont toss Check Engine Lights all the time. When I go the get my computer code for a custom chip burn..........you guessed it completely sealed computer!!!!!!! no possible way to add a chip!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else run into this problem? Will a tuner work in that multi-pin port under the dash near the transfer case shift lever? I have a local ford dealer who actually installs banks systems, I will call them tuesday to see what's up. They wanted an arm and an leg ($2800) for the kit and installation. They said they would add a chip if I wanted. I have know Idea how they would do that with a welded shut computer. So I am thinking about a custom tune witht he superchips programmer if that port is where it is hooked into. Any thoughts of ideas?
My 2003 1/2 F2 with 5.4L/6-speed is also "blessed" thusly. (made on May 3rd 2003) After checking with a Diablo Chip re-seller in the area, he told me to go pull out my computer to see if I had the "new" style unit since he didn't have my computer firmware on file. (FMW1) What a surprise, because it's a sealed computer, no chip can be installed so there's no listing for FMW1. No matter, the Diablo Predator for the 1999-2003 5.4L's is out now. The only way left to reprogram it is via the OBD II port with a power programmer.
So it looks like a Programmer with work......my V10 is not supported with the predator yet. I wonder if superchips can burn a custom programmer to compensate for the long tube headers.
Give that phone a tickle... Diablo will be adding the V10 support soon according to their web site. They can make you a custom program that you can download via either serial or USB interface to the Predator and then to your truck.
