you can't go wrong with the devilbiss/ porter cable. used to work in a shop with an 80 gal 2 stage and that thing never ran out of air plus it was very quiet....i miss that thing.
Actually, it is Pentair that makes (owns) DeVilbiss/Porter cable. They also make the Grainger house brand and the 'charge air" label. All are good units. I/R is also good. I haven't much good to say about Campbell Hausfeld. I believe Pentair also owns and makes Senco compressors/tools.
i'm not defending CH but i think selling them in walmart and other discount stores kills their integrity. i would not own one but i don't think there are alot of problems with them.............
I have the Husky brand from Home Depot, it is a rebadged CH. 60 gal, single stage, 7 hp, upright, 230 volt. I bought it to support my pressurized sandblaster. Works great, can keep up (turns off while I am blasting) at 80psi blasting. Wish they had a low cost pump replacement for dual stage, but only for this small amount of time (couple of months) I can sure live with it.
I had a Sears 30 gal, upright, 110volt... wow what noise!. sandblasting sucked it dry in no time.
I must chime in; what ever happen to Kellogg-American? I've got a pump rated at 5 to 7 horsepower depending on rpm thats about 30 years old. Been told I can't get parts for it, all I need is a head gasket as a valve had some pipe scale (?) under a disc valve. It appears to have the quality of a Quincy pump. Thanks,Carl.......o&o>..........
