Slide what back? The torque converter won't move. Did you remove all the bellhousing and the motor mount bolts? If so support the trans just below the TC, then lift the engine just enough to clear the motor mounts then bring it forward and up.

Like randyb12 was saying make sure all bell housing bolts are out,all 4 convertor nuts, loosen trans mount , starter, with the truck safely on jack stands when lifting the engine have someone under the truck with pry bars between the motor and trans. good luck. TNT

i thinkl its a bit more than 700 pounds more like 800-850, i used a 1 ton cherry picker but had it set on the 750 pound mark so the arm hung out over the engine and when i tried lifting my 390 without tranny like that the back of the picker came up, just be careful.

Try extending the legs. They need to come out at least several inchs past the end of the boom. Regardless of the weight being lifted.

these things are heavy! Be extra careful when it's on an engine stand and your moving it around. I almost toppled mine on a rough floor. Plus, if the engine hoist or stand are on pavement the wheels could sink in and then your stuck.
