390 intake removal

I'm trying to remove the intake manifold on my '73 390 2 barrel. It's the original cast iron intake manifold. Is there some sort of trick to getting it off? I cannot break it free. Is there some sort of trick to this? I've tried breaking it free with various flat head screw drivers and pry bars.

I've taken all of the intake bolts out (10 of them). Valve covers are off, push rods are removed and rocker assemblies are removed too. Carb and distributor are also off of the engine.

Small (sledge?) hammer, and a pry bar, smack it to loosen it up, then get the bar worked in there, and smack it again, repeate around the intake untill it's loose enough to pull off.

Mine seemed it was welded on... or so I thought. A chain and engine hoist just started lifting up the whole engine on the stand. Tried wacking it with a wooden rod and sledge. Still nothing. Sprayed carb cleaner, Kroil, Simple Green and tons of other stuff around it and let it sit over night and then did that again the next morning. Ended up finding a small area to get a prybar under that was eaten away with the chemical. Wacked the pry bar in and with hard yank, the intake poped off and up and into the floor chunking the shop concrete. Barely scratched or dinged the intake...but beat up the concrete.

Same as the posts above, helped my friend remove intake off a 460. It seemed like it was welded on. Had to pry it off with a hammer and chisel.

Cast iron intakes should be illegal....especially on big blocks!

Finally got it off! The key for me was using a heel bar. Never heard of a heel bar before so I went out and bought a set. It took a few days of prying on it and it eventually let loose.

Thanks!
