hello i am interested in removeing the 302 in my f150 suppercab and replaceing it with a 390 any idea's on what all would have to be converted?? and would it fit???
I just got done doin that very thing. You will have to swap the engine brackets along with the motor mounts. The brackets for the 302 put the 390 up against the firewall.
If you have a manual tranny you'll probably be able to just swap the bellhousing but if it's an auto you're probably gonna have to change tranny's unless you can find an adapter plate. Or you can make one if you have the equipment(stuff that most people don't have in their garage). You will also have to change the driveshaft length unless you find a donor truck to supply the driveline (that's what I did and everything just bolted in.....after I had the motor rebuilt of course)
Other that that it shouldn't be a problem.
its a 81 f150 suppercab. I have a donner truck, i'm gonna strip all i can off of it. i am hopeing between the two trucks that it will all work out. what kind of clearance did you end up with between the engine and firewall? I am sure i could make brackets or mounts if i had to.

It might also help you to check with Advance Adapters. Their phone number is 1-800-350-2223. Their web address is www.advanceadapters.com. Their "snail mail" address is: 4320 Aerotech Center, Paso Robles, CA 93446.
The wheelbases of the donor truck and your truck will also come into play. Too, is one of the trucks a 4X4?
