Wiring a Trailer Brake controller...

I bought a new Tekonsha Prodigy controller for my 2000 F350 SD.. I also got the factory wire harnes connectors.. When I plug it in I get now power.. I tested the wiring and there in fact is no power... I can't find a blown fuse anywhere.. Anyone have any Ideas.. Also my power point also has never worked since I got the truck.. Maybe related... Again no blown fuses in the panel... Any help is appreciated..

If all else fails run a wire directly to the battery. I've had several wires go bad on my wiring harness at the rear of the truck, fortunately none so far in the harness to the brake controller.

Are there fuses missing? Fuse 10 under the hood should be a 25A Mini fuse(smaller blade, natural color). Fuse 28 under the hood should be a 30A Maxi fuse (larger blade, green color)

Glad you got it working. That's an awesome brake controller. I'm sure you'll notice a difference over whatever you used before.

I'll second that. I like the 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, settings that you can call up for brake bias.

did you also put the 2 relays in and the other fuse? if you have never had a brake controller in the truck, there should be 2-30 amp fuses you need to put in the under hood fuse box and 2 ralays in the little box that is right next to the under hood fuse box.

I would like to know where it says all this... My manual doesn't say crap... There are open places in the fuse box under the hood and a couple open places for relays.. But where and what to put there???? Thanks

as you read all the fuse discriptions for the under hood fuse you need to make sure you have fuses in both the"trailer tow electronic brake contoller" slot(thats most likley the one you just put in it is # 28) and the "trailer tow battery charge" (#16). directly next the under hood fuse box is a smaller black box, it probably has some black tape on it. you have to open that and put in two standard 12v realys they are for "trailer tow backup lamp relay" and the "trailer tow battery charge relay". i dont think this info is in the manual i think it comes with the "Trailer tow hook up kit" that should have came with your truck when it was new. hope this helps, any more questions just let us know

oggjay, if you have to buy the relays you can get them at autozone or checker..ect, they again are a standard 12 volt relay. when you buy them they will probably have a little plastic tab on them with a hole in it(so they can be mounted to something) just cut that tad off flush with the top of the relay so they will fit under the cover.

ps. i sent the picture so you should have it now
