Happy Thanksgiving! Based on the feedback I got from a previous post (blowing fuse #45, igintion/throttle control), I'm guessing that the most likely cause of the blown fuse is a chaffed wire in the steering column ('02 F350 PSD). My Dad & brother-in-law want to tackle this tomorrow- it's blown 4 more times since Tuesday!
Can anyone confirm which wire in the steering column is connected to Fuse #45? Colors, connections, anything that would help them identify the specific wire that is shorting out would be a huge help.
I think its the bundle that comes down from the shift selector. Don't know the colors, but you have to physically remove the cover and look for signs of chafing through inside the steering column.
My manual moved with the truck to Connecticut (I'm still in TX). If I remember correctly, it was along the bottom strip of fuses, 3rd or 4th from the right end. It's definitely the ignition/throttle fuse - when it blows there is absolutley no response from the accelerator, and the whole console goes dead.
I agree that the best thing to do is look over all the wires in this bundle for chaffing, but since I'm trying to handle this long-distance I was hoping to give them a specific wire to examine very closely. If anyone has colors or another way to single this wire out it could help Dad knock this out a little easier...
