Carb or Fuel injection??

I have a 1986 Ford F-150 with a 302 with stock EFI. I'm considering changing my fuel delievery system. Would it be smater to go with a new manifold and carb or a new Fuel injection system. I don't do serious off-roading, just looking for the most powerful and reliable option. Please leave your suggestions and reasons why.

I'm for the fuel injection. I'm like tuning my engine without having to take things apart and buying gaskets every time I make a change.

What is wrong that you want to change the fuel delivery system? The smartest thinkg might be to fix the current FI setup.

What kind of upgrades are you looking at. As far as I know there is very little to mess with and get decent power.

I would stick with the fuel injection. You get better fuel economy through precise metering of the fuel. Less emmissions. I wish my engine had fuel injection.

..and speaking of emissions, are you in a state that will not let you make the change to carb? Will you have inspection/testing issues if you remove the current system?

you can tune a carb to produce less emmissions like the efi does

Um, I beg to differ. A poor running EFI system maybe...carbs won't even come close to SEFI (sequential), and I bet it won't come near a regular multi-port either, so i disagree.

Well...then why are all new cars EFI for better emissions...why arn't they still carbs if they can get better emissions....

A carburator is not as efficient as an EFI engine. The SEFI (sequential fuel injection) is the most efficient. I'm honestly blown away that you're saying this...but its too late for me to explain right now.

But you're trying to say that a carb...which sprays fuel and air through the ports of an intake and is sucked into an engine, is capable of being more efficient (which is what results in lower emissions) over an EFI engine which sprays (under high pressure, more efficient) the fuel right at the back of an open (hot) intake valve (way better atomization)? And the fact that it's perfectly metered fuel for a correct air/fuel ratio at all throttle positions, rpms, and loads? I think not, and so do many respected engine builders in the..oh..maybe 6 engine books I've read in the last couple months.

I'm not trying to be argumentative and offensive, but this shouldn't even be debated.
