I'm looking for information on Fuel injection systems for my 460. I'm new to this arena and am wondering if someone can give me an idea as to the benefits for and against converting to fuel injection. Who might make a decent system or which Ford fuel injection system might be retrofitted to a 1978 460. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I did an EFI 460 swap from an 88 E-350 into my '79 Bronco with no problems, just dyno'd the engine today with 185 hp and 270 Tq at the wheels, and about 250 and 365 tq at the flywheel, this engines is bone stock too
If your going to do a lot of engine modding I'd stick with a carb. The main advantage of fuel injection is a slight increase in MPG and added drivability for the first few minutes of engine warmup. In my opinion it's not worth spending the $$$ for an aftermarket injection system...but that's just me.

That's a good observation Deen. I would consider the FI conversion on my 77 for reliable starting, and good fuel economy.
I would like to see 18 Mpg on my 460 while cruising at 70 Mph.
I am considering taking the 460 out, and replacing it with a 300 I-6. I want better milage. I dont have the need for more power.
Boy am I saddend to hear that Dave. I was thinking we could get more out of the Sixes for sure. I had a 4.3L/V-6 that got 15.2 Mpg everywhere. City or country. My wife held it up in the 75 Mph area going across the plains and it still got 15.2.
Too bad. I guess I wanted more than I could get!
