Carburation vs. Injection

Id like to know the pros and cons of carburation vs injection. Pros and cons of hp and tuning with each. Me and a friend were arguein over whether carburators could gain more hp or injected could gain more. So who better to ask then yall here at FTE, my friend drives a chebbie too just so yall know lol.
I say carbs he says injection.

Hey mods I put it in Gen Auto cause I know alot of people linger around there and I wanted to get as many opinions as I could. My friend is prob gonna get a 350 this weekend to drop in his camaro and he doesnt know whether he wants injection or a carb so I was tryin to help him out. Do you think we could leave it there for a few days? PLEASE

Fuel injection is a lot more efficient and is capable of making more power that a carburator, but it depends on which type of EFI.

The TBI (throttle body) injection is not much more than a carb as the intake is a wet system (gas and air are going through intake). You see that on older chevy's (late 80's). The ford system is either multi-port (speed density 87 through 95ish) or Sequential (MAF 95-96sih). Those years are for the trucks, cars were different. The ford system has injectors right infront of the intake valve which helps atomization. The fuel can actually hit the back of the hot intake valve and create great atomization (more power).

The pros of carbs are that they are cheap, easy, simple, and reliable. EFI is expensive and complex but if the person does enough research about EFI than EFI is just as tunable.

You could not get a 500hp carb equipped motor to drive you to the office comfortably every day. EFI opens the doors to all kinds of possibilities. You can make 500hp and drive it to work everyday and have it idle nicely in traffic..etc etc.

EFI is much more efficient which will make more power and better gas mileage as well as lower emissions, ceterius parabus. Some racers still use carbs for their cheapness and reliability because they'd pretty much need a custom EFI system which isn't cheap. Most well sponsored racers (depending on what kind of racing) use EFI.

No offense but it would be stupid to convert a stock EFI truck back to a carb. I've recently done a lot of research on EFI systems and Ford's EEC-IV with SEFI MAF is one of the best EFI's out there and you can make some really nice power out of it. EFI also has great throttle response and can run at any angle. Ask a hardcore offroader how much they hate having a carb in off angle situations (causes the motor to die). Now there are exceptions to this, like a well tuned carb can out perform a poorly setup EFI system, but the general rule of thumb is that EFI is better. There is a reason why even my snowmobile now has EFI over a carburator, it's simply better overall.

On edit:

If carbs were better why do high performance vehicles, like ferraris, today run EFI?
