i think i was going to use it in my 75 ford truck with a 390 and my 2003 expy every one that used it said there car has lasted a long time a lot longer than it should my friend has been using it since 92 in his trans am which was a 1990 model he bought used at 30,000 it now has 460,000 and he plans on getting 500 plus has never had any engine problems just belts and alternator replaced and it still runs great we have been sending in oil to blackstone for their input and the results come back great no bearing material or anything else
The other option is Chevrons Delo 400. I use RotellaT in my truck.....gas 302. RotellaT is a very good group I base. Delo is a group II base stock. As I learn more and more here.....I ask myself why I dont use the Delo 400 instead of the RotellaT.
I even asked Shell in an e-mail whyI should stick with them instead of switching to the Delo. Been over a month I think....no response yet.
When I do LOF's at work, some truckers specify Rotella T, others specify Delo 400. Others specify Shurcraft.
From what I understand, the difference between Rotella T and Delo 400 is the additive content. Delo 400 has more detergent in it, so you're getting "less" oil for lubrication. Rotella T, has less detergent than Delo 400, and stands to reason that there is more room for "more" oil to lubricate with. Either way you look at it, you could have "more" oil to keep yourself lubricated, or "less" oil that keeps the inside of your engine clean.
They are both excellent products. One thing I have noticed though, when it comes to changing the oil, the rig with Delo coming out has dirtier oil than Rotella coming out. That's a good thing. While Rotella still comes out black, I have to add this. If the oil coming out still looks clean, (ie: fresh out of the bottle) the oil isn't doing it's job, and it's time to start looking for a different oil.
Cant go wrong with Castrol RX Super Heavy Duty Multi Grade 15w40 You will never know,Unless you give it a go.We run it Cars ,Trucks,Tractors its the only oil we use in the workshop.
The last time I checked the spec sheets, Delvac 1300 had the highest TBN (and ash content) of the three major brands (Delo 400, Delvac 1300 and Rotella T). So, the additive pack is even higher than that of Delo. ExxonMobil still makes a lot of Group I base oil, so that is probably what is in it.
when i worked for the local paving out fit we had a lot of one tons with 500,000 miles on them. most with the original motors. all they ran for oil in them was rotella
