what about a 300 inline 6. i currently use castrol 10w-30. would the 15w-40 be better. i dont burn any oil, but the engine does have 120k miles so i would like something that will keep it running the way it is for years to come.

Depending on your outside temperatures, I'd say go for it. Look for the diesel rated 10w30 and have the best of both worlds.
