I just flushed my coolant system and only about 2.5 gallons came out is this correct. My owners manual says that there is about 25.5 quarts or 6.4 gallons.
My coolant level is as full as i can get it.
Any help would be great
There is quite a difference between a completely empty system, such as after you rebuilt the engine, compared to just draining the rad. By just draining the rad you aren't able to get all the coolant out of the heater, engine block etc.
sorry for the late responce,
is there over 3 gallons that can be in the block,
i flushed the system.
i drained the radiator, filled it with water, ran it for 5-10min
drained it again till all the green was outfilled with water, ran for 5 min
and all that came out with the final drain was water, i let it drain for a while, i even jacked up the back end of the truck.
If it didn't get hot enough for the themostat to open, all you did was remove the anti-freeze from the radiator and heater core. the coolant won't move out of the block until the thermostat opens.
