Welcome,
For a truck, I would use a roots/whipple type supercharger. They will make better low end torque and have almost instant boost compared to a centrifugal one. Those are more for high rpm hp applications,

I have a ATI ProCharger kit on my truck (2000 5.4L) and it works well for me. I don't do much if any towing so low end power isn't a big concern as far as boost. Kit was fairly straight forward as far as installation and 3 year warranty is a big plus. I've driven trucks with both types and around town there isn't any difference with the exception of the centrifugal making a noticable whine (music to me). At the track the positive displacement blower will jump you off the line in a hurry and the pull is very linear. In my truck, off the line it's very soft (tuning will help that) but once it get's above 2000 rpms it really starts pulling....and pulls harder as the rmps increase. So really it's just up to what you prefer and what your driving habits dictate. Both have pros and cons.

If it were me to do again I'd go with a turbo...
