I just did a complete coolant change on my 2000 psd. I bought the coolant additive from the ford dealer FW-16 it said on the botttle to use 4oz per gallon since the cooling system holds about 8 gallons that would be 32oz or 2 pints but the owners mannual sayes to add 4 pints when doing a complete coolant change
For racing, we are not allowed to use anti-freeze (motorcycle road racing). So, to prevent corrosion and lube up the water pump, we were using a product called Water Wetter by Red Line.
Was pricy, but we were all happy to buy it.
So, the rest of the story goes like this. Water Wetter originally was produced for Pumper Trucks for fire departments to keep corrosion down in the expensive pumps and to lube the pumps.
Someone discovered that Pomolive dish washing soap (You're soaking in it) had the same ingreedants. So, now that's what we use.
