The one thing I don't like about my 04 SCab is rattling doors over rough roads. I think the center piller on the SCrew would eliminate what I hear in my truck.
Supercrew w/ two kids. If you buy a supercab, everyday you are going to wish you had a supercrew, especially w/ long trips. Your kids would appreciate it, I'll tell you that.
"The only reason to buy a supercrew in my opinion is if you need a car but just want to say you have a truck even though everything you haul could fit in a car trunk"
Yeah Right??? Obviously you have not been around many crews, They are deep. put a cover on it and its 4 times the size of a trunk, a Cap, 10 times. I understand you favor the Supercab, but come on,w/ two kids on trips. Who wants to spend 35000 to say you have a truck??
I went on a 3 1/2 hour trip with 3 of my friends, 2 of them are football players, come on now we all know they ain't the smallest people in the world. The one is at more than 6' 300lbs. I asked both of them how the ride was and they both stated that they were comfortable. Neither one complained about it. By the way, this was in my 04 Supercab.
Scab, no question. Adults can easily ride back there comfortably!! I think the back doors are "cool." I infinitely prefer the looks of the Scab as well. The Screw is an Explorer with a tail! It says: "Family man, grocery getter, wants truck LOOK but won't use it much (ever) as a truck" to me! (I know that I am wrong in some cases, I am talking about a look).
I have regularly had my bed stuffed to the gills and I don't like the "stubby" look of the short bed anyway. Get a van! Good choice my friend!
I drive an 04 Screw, and I assure you it gets pretty heavy use as a truck. However, when I'm headed out to a jobsite with a few fellows, I'd much rather lose 1 foot of box space and gain some comfort for the guys. Especially since the bed extender allows me to carry plenty even in a 5.5' box. Also helps on weekends when heading out to the campsite, it's way more comfortable loading my daughter into a car seat in a Screw than it was in my 02 Scab.
Scab seats will do in a pinch, but there's no question that it's more comfortable in the back of the Screw.
Your friends were being Polite, it would do in a pinch especially if you didn't have a ride. I am talking about a road trip, 3 hours plus. Try a trip from NJ to Florida and see what they say around Maryland. With a bed extender you have a 6.5 foot bed??
I have a 7 month old son, there is just not enough room for a Car Seat and Everything else. Your right though, I am not exactly on a work site anymore, wouldn't want you to look foolish. It would be like showing up to a monster truck show in a mini van. If I were going to worksites I would have kept my Chevy 2500hd quad with 6.5 foot bed. That truck took care of all situations, just make sure you have plenty of gas money. If you want a worktruck, by a worktruck. You are comparing apples with oranges.
A Crew is for someone who is a family guy, but when they need a truck they have one. I tow, load topsoil, mulch, groceries, and everything else I need it for. If I had to pick up sheet rock or something, either have the extender or its just one thing you can't do.
I have had a supercab and 2 supercrews its nice taking the kids to their games
you don't have to get out to let them out. In bad weather if they want to take
their time getting into the truck they can go with the supercrew you will love it
did have trouble parking but now i can put it anywhere
the supercrew thing isnt just about room in the back people can fit in a supercab and if they are too lazy to drive let them make it work. i got the crewcab cause it lets people in and out and i dont have to move except to push the dock unlock button. so if its a people hauler gett he crew if its a stuff hauler your gonna need the bedspace from the supercab.
