I got the supercab because I disike the shorter front doors of the supercrew. I also like not having the massive center piller right by my head. The seat mounted seatbelts are great for my height -5'10"- anyone over 6'2" might have a problem with the belt riding too low on their shoulder as there is no adjustment. The truck feels more open and roomy to me but I know the supercrew is so much more popular, for different and valid reasons.
Wife and 3 kids all in there teens. Have a SCREW with the 40/60/40 seats. This is now our favorite for long trips (5 hrs plus) since it is so roomy. It even fits the dogs with the bench front.
Around town, we go out with friends and take the SCREW. With all the room and the fact it is so quiet, it is very social.
With the deep bed, it still holds a LOT of crap. If I need length, I go with the gate down.
I had my heart set on the super cab ,but there's no room in the back seat..We got the supercrew, plenty of room even with the front seats pushed back..Theres no room in the bed though..
Hi, I bought the Lariat SCab only because of the way it looks.I think the SCab's look better proportioned and I like having the 6.5 ft. bed instead of 5.5 ft.However, if I had two children to transport I would choose the SCrew in a heartbeat, unless I did alot of hauling.Good Luck!
I would go with the Scab with the 5.5 ft bed, and add a leer tonneau cover and a bedrug liner. So I did! (and love it. It's a luxury suv with a huge trunk.)
Supercab is what I ended up getting. I've traveled with adults in the back and all were comfortable. Plus that 6'5" bed saves me a lot of trips. Amazing how much stuff you can fit back there.
I used to have an 88 Scab, but as my kids got bigger I couldn't get the family to ride in it since it was uncomfortable in the rear seat. I hated always going in the wifes van!! But since I bought my 04 Screw, we always travel in it. Wife and kids love it.
supercrew, i hate not having 4 doors. it makes letting people in and out a lot easier. i figure theres going to be more people than junk in the truck anyways and if i really need to haul a lot of stuff i'll rent the truck from homedepot its only 20 bucks for like an hour and a half and then my truck dosent get beat up either. with the bedextender its not too bad but then i never had to go get a bunch of drywall or anything.
Scab, no question. Adults can easily ride back there comfortably!! I think the back doors are "cool." I infinitely prefer the looks of the Scab as well. The Screw is an Explorer with a tail! It says: "Family man, grocery getter, wants truck LOOK but won't use it much (ever) as a truck" to me! (I know that I am wrong in some cases, I am talking about a look).
I have regularly had my bed stuffed to the gills and I don't like the "stubby" look of the short bed anyway. Get a van! Good choice my friend!
Go with the Supercrew. I have a FX4 supercab and the only reason I went that way is cause they don't offer the flareside with true 4 doors. When I do carry people and they try and get in and out of the truck in a parking spot with cars on both sides it is a pain in the a$$.
04 lariat screw love it bed has enough room for me and with the bed extender i haven't found anything i couldn't get in there yet wife and kids love it also
I have real world experience with this topic. I bought a supercab 6.5' bed and thank myself everyday for doing so. I have so far hauled my wife's tanning bed and barely got my tailgate closed. I also have moved a bedroom suit and boy was that a lot better with the 6.5' bed! If you have kids the supercab loses 3 inches of legroom and gains a foot of bed. for $2000 less it is a no brainer for me. I have kids and you know what? They are kids...not my boss or a first class airline passenger. For $2000 dollars my kids can ride in the coach section of my truck and I can have my full size bed. The only reason to buy a supercrew in my opinion is if you need a car but just want to say you have a truck even though everything you haul could fit in a car trunk or you just want one for a status symbol. Most contractors and foremen fall into my first category because they carry light stuff like the shovels and carry the crew in the backseat while the "real" equipment gets hauled in a single cab worktruck with an 8' bed or an F250. Sorry about the rant but that is how I see it. You will love your supercrew until it is time to get serious with work and can't get it done easily.
