I have a few extra truck bats and was wondering about the possibility of putting a third in the truck. I need to replace to worn cables anyway, and thought it would be nice to add a little extra cranking power in the process. Would the increased amperage have any negative effects, and do all the bats. have the have the same amp rating?
I added a third battery about 5 months ago. I use it to run a 110v inverter for accessorys like my computer and TV. The 3rd battery is isolated so my inverter wont discharge all my batteries and leave me stranded. however it does kick in to help start the motor when the key is turned on. The only thing I have noticed about the setup is that the volt meter is showing 10.5 volts instead of 12v am guessing this is just because the system is having to charge 3 batterys instead of 2.
Yeah, it should work. Where are you going to put it? Why not just two more powerful batteries?
I was planning on putting it over the passengerside wheel well. I would just need to move the vaccum sensor and maybe the voltage regulator, otherwise, there is plenty of clearance for it in that area. I'd rather use the batteries that I have than buy two higher output ones.
