electrical headache

hey guys, hope someone can help with this one. i have a 93 f250xlt with a 460. when i try to start the truck i get a loud click, then loose all power. the sound appears to be coming from drivers side close to the fuse panel underhood. i have replaced startersolenoid.ng. i can get the truck to start by jumping out the solenoid while repeatedly touching neg bat cable to bat. truck will run ok, untill i use any aux power. ie hyd pump for liftbed. then truck will die out instantly with no power. it will only click one time then the bat must be disconnected.
any ideas would be great. im not a mechanic but have been working on trucks all my life. and yes the battery is fully charged. thanks

Bad battery cables or bad connections to the battery.
Also check the ground connection to the engine block (not the frame) from the Neg post of the battery.
You may also need the frame grounded for the hyd pump for liftbed but not for the engine operation.
Make sure the body is well grounded also.

I've had several issues due to bad connections/cables. I like to upgrade to OO gauge cables.

No kind of circuit breakers or anything on these trucks.

You have the classic symptoms of bad/loose/corroded battery terminal and made power feed connections.

Clean both battery terminals with a stiff wire brush, do the same to the terminal connectors. Unbolt the positive and negative wires from the body/frame/block/starter solenoid.. and clean them all, then re-attach them nice and tight.
