i was thinking the other day, after i watched a tv show on the old mustang mach 1's that a shaker hood scoop would look totally sweet on a 73-79 ford truck. has anyone ever done this to a 73-79? how would i go about doing this? i cant really come up with a plan that would work, im going to go to the local ford parts counter and try to get the scoop from a modern mustang, provided its cheap enogh. but any help or idea would be apprechiated. thanks! P.s i hope this is in the right forum. if not sorry!
Try finding a late 70's trans-am. Those had shakers, and it's easy to find one rusted out or totalled in a junk yard. They have a nice rubber seal around the edge and a drain hose for the rain that comes into the hole. Then plop it onto the carb...it would look sweet, and I may have to do it myself!
That would certainly work. Just make a ring, like the original lower body of the air cleaner box. Even the non-functional shakers can usually be made functional by cutting out the plastic on the back and replacing it with mesh.
I'm thinking of putting a shaker on my '69 Mach 1 and I came across his web site. He has a Ford truck that looks like it might have a shaker - perhaps it is just the hood scoop. In any case he can probably provide you with some information.
Good luck,
David
