I have a friend who is more experienced who was going to do it. I just need to find a welder. I'l check on prices and maybe rent one this weekend. Might be good time to get to work on the wakeboard tower for my boat while I have the welder

I use to do this kind of work all the time. We had a machine made for removing this called an EDM and it would burn out the old pieces. It is very accurate and usually would just chase the threads when you are done. Depending on where it is, sometimes can do it in the car. Cost when we did it were around $75.00 (if we could do it in the car or you brought the head in to us. Head and/or exhaust manifold R&R not included).

If you try welding the nut to the ezout make sure you disconnect your battery and computer before you do this or you may be looking at some major expenses you werent ready for!

And if you used a cheap ezout then I doubt you will be shattering it since most of them are just case hardened.

The other alternative is to carbide drill it out but that is tough (have done my share of that as well) and if you shatter that while drilling, which is easy to do, then you will HAVE to be EDMing it out.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the tips. Disconnecting the battery is easy enough, but how do I disconnect the computer? Is that as simple as just disconnecting the wiring harness from what I understand to be the computer that is mounted on the drivers side under the hood? Thanks.

Good point on disconnecting the battery and computer, I had forgotten about that. The PCM (computer) on your Bronc should be inside the cab, behind the pass. side kick panel, but I can't swear to that as I'm not all that familier with your year/model, that's just where Ford seems to put them on just about all the other computer-controlled trucks I've worked on. -TD

yes, I think it is in the kick panel. You will need a 10mm socket to remove the center screw and then pull the plug out of the computer.

you could take a oxy-actelyne torch and burn the ez-out out of the bolt.. you'd have to be fairly careful when doing that though..

i've done the MIG trick.. it didn't work for me though.

Why did that not work for you? Is the weld not strong enough to turn the bolt?

I'm Good with an oxy-acetelyne torch, but I know I couldn't burn a bolt out of an exhaust manifold bolt hole without boogering something up.
