Go Craftsman. They are Waterloo boxes with more rebates and cost less to begin with. It is better to spend money on tools then on an empty toolbox. The drawers are interchangable so you can set it up the way you want. I have pictures of my setup in my gallery.
Thanks. I hope so too. He just has to stick with the program. He's a pretty tough kid, as he was in the Marines a few years ago. Still haven't figured out how to post a picture of his box, though. This computer won't let me, as it has many issues. If I have time, I'll try one at work.
I have to admit a fondness for the Gerstner wooden mechanics chest, though they are a bit expensive. The craftsman ones seem pretty decent from what I've seen.
i went ahead and bought craftsman boxes. Its craftsman club days and i was able to get another 10% off with my dads employee discount.
These too (hope this link works) http://www.sears.com/sr/product/comp...d1075254893=on
Personally i have a craftsman box which ive sort of outgrown. I hang out with a bunch of mechanics and wanna be mechanics. Some have Waterloo boxes and they are also a good quality box albeit more expensive than the craftsman ones. Some of them have gone completely crazy and have gotten the snap on which while pretty are waaaay over priced I would suggest going to one of the tool sales for craftsman or even their damaged goods place i got a hell of a deal there paid less than $200 for a $599 set up and they even gave me the lost keys for free
i just got this 4-drawer portable chest. it was 60 new. It holds all of my tools, so far. It's pretty heavy to move but not impossible. It's what I wanted.
pipercub I wonder how many techs can afford that box, never mind filling it
I know I sure couldn't.
I also noticed that it weighs over 1300 lbs!
wow
Yeah I know, 1300lbs has to be about the weight of a Geo. Once you get them filled with tools, that is if you can afford tools after spending that much, you'd need a fork lift to lift the toolbox if you ever had to move and wanted to haul it in your truck.
I have a Craftsmen toolbox, it isn't an expensive one, but it's still nice. It has the lower cabinet and then the top toolbox. I also have a cheap toolbox setup that I got from Lowes. It looks just like my Craftsman, only it's a bit smaller and made by StackOn (LOL, like SnapOn), but using the both of them I have room for all my tools and I didn't spend a lot on one big one. I plan on buying another one of those cheap rolling tools cabinets pretty soon just so I can have an extra one. About a week ago WalMart had one advertised for $60. This was one of their "one time offers" and I probably should have gotten it, but didn't. You'd be surprised at the quality in thouse cheap toolboxes. When I got my new Craftsman one, I had to spray the drawers so they wouldn't stick and they still stick sometimes. Never had a problem with my little cheap one. I guess you can't always put a price tag on quality.
With the money I saved, not getting the bigger Craftsman toolbox, I bought myself a larger air compressor and some more air tools.

I have a Craftsman and really like it. But I had no idea that the drawers are interchangeable. Is there a trick to doing this? I'd really like to rearrange mine!!
