I have been looking at this tool box at Harbor Freight: 13 Drawer Red Industrial Quality Roller Cabinet
I have a 20% off coupon, so for $320 it's extremely hard to beat. Iused to have a Mac Tech Series that was about the size of the main drawers, and the fit and finish on this one seems better than the Mac one. I also really like the matte red finish, it's different.
Has anyone gotten one of these yet? They look and feel nice sitting in the store, but are they that nice at home/work?
In fact id go as far as to say the rollers were better than the snap on ones on my snapon classic 78. Anyone who has one knows you have to wrestle with with drawers to pull them out all the way after like 3 days of buying em.
I just bought my first HF box, the red 5-Drawer Service Cart and man that thing is stout! I'd put it up against any of my old-school Craftsman boxes. I looked at the big boxes too and read a lot of reviews, the consensus seems to be that you can't go wrong um. Well made, strong and a steal for the $$$. The only complaint I've see relates to the matte finish as it is hard to keep clean. Go for it.

I looked at one a few months ago, when I had a discount coupon burning a hole in my pocket, and was impressed enough to give it serious consideration at $599.99 less the discount. In the end, because I already have four Snap-On boxes and need another like I need another hole in my head, I passed and bought movers dollies and blue/green/brown plastic tarps instead (which is what I had gone in there for).
It's a very nice box, and for what--$320 with your discount coupon--it would be a very good deal.
I bought a cheap TaskForce roll-around from Lowe's when we first moved into our house...dang thing didn't last a year before it fell apart. I was looking at the Harbor Freight boxes and was almost ready to buy one when my phone rang.
My grandfather owned an autobody repair shop for many years (I worked with him in the summers for close to 15 years); he had an old Snap-On box he bought years ago and every five years or so he'd take it apart, sand it, prime and paint it. He died on New Year's Day 2008, when they read the will, he left that box and all his autobody tools to me. Most of the tools were so old and degraded I couldn't use them but a lot of the hand tools were solid and the box was in good shape.
If I hadn't have gotten that box, I would have bought the Harbor Freight box.
Sorry to hear about the layoff, what kinda work did you do? I lost my job a while back, if you're a good worker with positive attitude, you'll find a way thru this... Good luck.
I'm a fitter/welder, I spent the majority of my time running a press brake for the last few months. Not the most mentally stimulating job, but it paid decent.
This should be temporary, and there was another company I was talking with a few weeks back that wanted me so we'll have to see how it goes.

Same here! I love the HF 700lb box. It is a beast for the $150 I paid for it. It's quality seems to be neck & neck with my Mac box. I want to throw some pnuematic tires on it so I can roll it around the gravel driveway in front of our garage.
Ford_Six: Sorry to hear about the job man Hang in there and keep your head up!

That sucks. Have you heard of Nucor? I keep seeing them online and have seen openings listed on their site.
I picked up this box from HF just after Christmas for $149.99. (coupon price)
I'm slowly putting things in it as I use them. You know, I pick a tool up from where I have been keeping it and when I'm done using it I put it in the new storage box.
If I was using it for work I would get the higher end box but for storage in the shed it is great for the price.
