I am considering a used 03 Expy and after reading about a lot of issues from other boards it seems as though the ones to find are those with the C before the last five digits as they were built later and had most of the new fixes.
My question is this, how do I find which TSBs still relate to the vehicle I'm looking at and is it unfair for me to then take these to the dealer prior to purchase to have them look into and fix on signing these issues ?
A TSB is simply a bulletin that is supposed to help a tech fix a problem that a vehicle may have. Just because there is a TSB on a certain problem doesn't mean that your vehicle needs to have it done. For instance if there was a TSB that said to reprogram the PCM to get rid of a ping, and you had that done on your truck that wasn't pinging, you might notice after that it had less power and worse gas mileage because the reprogramming retarded the timing and it didn't need to be done.
It is a good idea though to take the VIN into your dealer and have them check for open recalls etc. They can probably also give you some service history on it.
