Rolling idle

Rolling idle
Have a 1997 with 5.4 engine and the idle rolls up and down. It does not drop low enough to cause a stall, nor does it go high enough to cause high idle problems. It fluctuates or rolls. Code scan shows nothing wrong. Any suggestions on where to look.

I had the same thing AND my check engine light was lit. Try this - it solved my problem...

another leaking pvc elbow
I have a '98 expd w/ a 5.4 that just turned 100k and started same symptoms so I bought a code scanner and chilton manual replaced plugs (no fun at all !!!), cleaned and tested injectors ,bought fuel presure tester and tested pressure, replaced 2 forward O2 sensors , replaced 2 rear O2 sensors
All this and it didn't run a damn bit better but thanks to the above post I checked my pcv to intake vacuum elbow and low and behold the elbow be holed right now its 9oclock saturday night so I just plugged it off until I can get to Ford dealer on monday
