Cool 2013 F150 FX2 broken sunroof track TSB help!

My sun roof is jammed up and has trouble opening\closing. Looks to be this exact description while visually inspecting it. Ive found numerous complaints about the plastic track system in the f150s so it was likely a TSB was created. The best I could do was the information below and here is what I did so far.

I called the local ford dealers but none of these numbers made sense to them. The wording looks very much like a TSB so I am reaching out to you guys to help me figure this out.

Anyone have any ideas here or access to the TSB system to help search? The problem can be where its listed under 2014 years but applies to my 2013 so searching for it can be difficult.

Here are a few pointing to the same issue without a TSB number that can help but maybe I am missing something useful here.

Welcome to the forum, mbkowns! TSBs are assigned by VIN, so your dealership would be able to see if a particular service action applies to your vehicle by looking it up by that. How many miles are on your truck currently? I'll see what I can do to help out.

Cool 2013 F-250 moonroof issue

Had the same issue in our 2013 F-250. Same black piece the other gentleman posted a picture of too but popped out on the driver side. Dealer quoted $2200+. Have 33k on the truck but the factory warranty ended on 12/29/15 but I have Premium Care for 84mon and 75k miles. The dealership wanted 3 days with the truck to get "pictures of the moonroof to submit to warranty. If ESP declined it would have cost me $940 just to get the truck back on the road, or $2.2k to fix. I asked the dealer to hold off as I waited some peace of mind the ESP would cover it.

Called Ford customer service and they couldn't tell me for sure what all was covered, then forwarded be over to ESP customer care and they pointed me to the website for the PremiumCARE brochure and asked if I saw the moonroof on there (which I didn't) and she promptly stated only to confirm was to have the dealer go through the full process to see. $940 to remain broke if not under warranty or $2.2k to fix or maybe JUST MAYBE $100 for a warranty deductible.

I've very confused on why no one could say if it would even be covered by my ESP plan, the first lady did tell me switches and motors are covered on the factory 3yr/36k but the track was not so she figured it wasn't covered under the ESP.

Thanks for the thread I'll be watching to see if anyone does the Dr SunRoof fix or gets some traction on what appears to be a common failure in a very expensive vehicle.

Sun Roof Frames

My 2017 F-250 has same issue. Dealer said he had 9-10 F-150/250 with large sun roofs with same problem. Parts on order, back ordered with no known delivery date. Mine will be covered under warranty. Wet carpet with potential mildew issues. Will ask for new carpet but doubful I will get it. Until parts arrive mine is in driveway with tarp over the roof.

Lucky you! I ended up zip tying the broken brackets together so the sunroof holds tight into position and then pulled the fuse. Not worth fixing.

Ask for the moon and make Ford pay for anything damaged seen now and possibly later. Make them change that carpet!!!

Over the weekend I had opened the sunroof and when I went to close it, there was a pop and the sunroof would not close. When I would push the button to close It would get almost there and then just open back up. I finally got it to close with a little help. Then the husband wanted to look at it and it was even harder to get it to stay closed. It is now closed, but when you are driving down the road you can hear the wind like it is still opened. It seem to be the back part of the window that did not raise up and seal. Would this be the Sunroof Track Assembly? Where would be the best place to order one and how hard is it really to repair?
