I have a 1993 F150XL extended cab 4wd that I just bought (good deal). Two things seems to be wrong.
1st: There is a vibration during accelaertion (like tires out of balance). Rides smooth at a steady drive.
2nd: The check engine light comes on up to 10 minutes after starting then stays on for some time, then out. Upon re-starting, all is well for a while then the check engine light comes on again.
I also need a new rear step bumper!
Thanks for any help!
By the way, the engine is a 5.8

Ok, i have an answer to two of your questions, one, about the vibration, sounds like a bad u-joint or maby a loose rear pinion yoke, and the bumper, summit truckstyle carys them there look alikes and about 230 bucks,
you need the engine codes run when the lite is on i had a similar problem with a 85 cougar they found the tps o2 and some sensor had to be cleaned up and it ran great after that. IF ya go to one of them " wanna be an auto parts store" like autozone they will run codes for free,
id also search for FEY bumpers they are usually good quality and cheap
Im not familiar with the 93 truck but if youve got a driveline vibration and you have that two piece driveshaft with the bearing check that for play one of those drove me nuts once on a Dodge D100 good luck with the new truck
Oh thats the brand name that summit carrys, FEY, Sure step XLT, 1967-95 ford full size- $239.99 plus 21.99 for a installation kit, dont know what is intailled in the install kit but its cheap anyways
Appreciate all the help! Turns out the right bank O2 sensor and the EGR vacuum solenoid are bad.
Haven't tackled the vibration yet!
Found a bumper at a salvage yard that has only a very small (1/4") ding behind where the license plate goes. Other than that, absolutely perfect with all hardware for $200.00.
Going to have a local high performance garage tackle the repairs for $208.00 and complete dual exhaust with all stainless pipes for $200.00.
Again, thanks for all the input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rats. I got here too late. Through my local Ford dealer, I am able to get reconditioned bumpers for around $175. The front one I got for my F150 (see sig) came in perfect shape. Before you start replacing parts due to that check engine light, make sure all your vacuum hoses are good and not leaking--those can throw a code, too, and make the EGR system look like it's gone south.
