AOD leaking Shift Shaft Seal

AOD leaking Shift Shaft Seal
1990 F150 4x4 AOD
Does anyone know if the shift shaft seals can be replaced without dropping the pan? The exploded view looks like you have to take the shaft loose from inside, but I am not sure. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on getting the filler tube to stop leaking? I replaced the o-ring and it still wants to leak.
Thanks,
BroncoBAsher

Yes, unfortunately you have to remove the pan to change the shift shaft seal on an AOD because that is the only way to get the shaft out. I did anyhow. For the filler tube--you might try looking at heavier teflon o-rings from an AC o-ring kit to get a better seal. It should have been a pretty tight fit though with the correct part. Are you sure you got the correct o-ring?
