Replacing 86 AOD ?????
Replacing 86 AOD ?????
I'm up in the air about whether I should pull my AOD out of my 86 Bronco and put in the one from an 87. Are there any tricks? Issues? Precautions? Is there any way to test the 87 one before I get it in to make sure it's in better condition that the existing one? Can this be done over a weekend?
Any help??????

Precautions:
Blow out the cooler lines and drain the converter when you swap it at a minimum. Make sure you have access to a transmission jack or suitable substitute. Make sure the converter is fully seated before you try to tighten down the bellhousing. You also need a lot of clearance to get it in and out. It's a pretty big job to do for what may be a step backwards, but it can be done in a weekend assuming you have a transmission jack. I wouldn't do it without knowing the tranny you are swapping is better by a bunch.
