I have a 2001 Bullitt which only have 40000Km and i keep having to replace COP (still on warranty, oufff) . So far, they have change 4 of them. Now it's back to the garage as I'm having misfiring again.
Is that a trend for those parts ? They are burning at an alarming rate. I'm not looking forward when the warranty expire.
Welcome to the forum.
It does happen, but it's not an everyday thing. I wonder if there is water getting into the sparkplug pockets and shorting them out?
I don't know about the water, it will be odd that it does since the plugs are pretty on top of the engine and rubber sealed. Anyway four bad ones is not an ordinary failure in my book.
BTW, sorry i just noticed that this forum is for Ford trucks not Mustang.
my mistake.
Yeah, The truck engines (especially the 5.4L) sit back under the cowl which shrouds the engine and holds in a lot of heat back there. That and some of the 97-99 trucks had a problem with the heater hoses dripping into the #4 plug pocket causing them to short out.
I wonder if your dealer might go ahead and replace the other 4 since you've had so much trouble before your warranty is up as a good faith kinda thing.
