My 2000 has 93K miles. I do not have a "Check Engine" light (CEL) condition. Gas mileage is not what it used to be, and I experience a slight shudder on throttle kickdown sometimes. While I'm in there for the plug change, should I replace the COPS? Would you?
I bought Motorcraft plugs today. Should the COPS be Motorcraft as well?
I would just do the plugs for now and see what happens.
If you have a bad COP, it's most likely going to be #4 as the one always seems to go bad, so make sure while you have the COPS off, swap the #1 cop with the #4 cop.. that way if you have to replace it afterwards, it'll be MUCH easier to get to.
I wouldn't replace them just for giggles. Unless it is throwing a code there is no reason to. If it does ever throw a code, it is usually the boot on the COP that needs to be replaced rather than the whole thing.
