Removal
1. Remove the screws retaining the armrest area of the trim panel to the door inner panel.
2. Remove the screw retaining the door inside handle cup.
3. Remove the screw retaining the door window regulator handle. Remove the handle and washer.
4. Remove the power door lock control and/or power window control, if so equipped.
5. At each plastic clip location, carefully pry the trim panel away from the door inner panel using the Trim Pad Removing Tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401 or equivalent. Remove the trim panel.
NOTE:
At no time should the trim panel be used to pull the clips from the inner panel holes.
For installation follow removal procedures in reverse order.
NOTE:
Replace any bent, damaged or missing plastic clips on the door trim panel to the door inner panel, firmly loading clips into slots provided on door trim panel.
The "clip-type" interior door trim panel described above uses several plastic "push pin" style clips that attach to the door panel trim on one side (the clip head fits into a slot) and get pushed into the metal door support on the other side. My '94 SHO has the same type of panel clips. I slide a small, flat pry bar between the door and the panel and use it to help pry the push pin clips out of the metal door support. The bar looks something like this:
Work it slowly, one clip at a time, and make an effort not to break the areas on the trim panels that hold the clips. Instead, you want to pull the clips out of the door - using the pry bar to help- while leaving them attached to the trim panel as you work the panel away from the door.
If you completely mangle any of the clips, they are replaceable, I get them from AutoZone right off the “Fasteners” rack.
