It's a 1979 F-150, 302 CID and yes it is a true dual coming straight out the headers without a cat. The motor has about 9,000 miles on the rebuild and the two newest components are the Holley Street Avenger 570cfm 4 bbl carburetor and Holley High Performance 80gph fuel pump both installed. The carburetor was installed in January and the fuel pump in March. That is the only work done to it in a while besides changing the oil a month ago.
When did you first notice the smoke? Do both sides smoke? What color is the smoke? Have you run compression tests on all of the cylinders? It sounds like one might have more blow by than the others, and thats why you see more smoke (yes, I realize it was just rebuilt, but its a possibility). You might also want to post this question in the 302 forum. They might give you some ideas.
No I have not done a compression check and believe I leave nothing ruled out even though it's been rebuilt. I noticed the smoke a long time ago but the weird thing is that my left side would smoke more and now it seems like my right side is. It's really noticeable when you start it up in the morning. That is when I realized it. The smoke is cloudy but not black. I think I might be burning a little rich because when I put my new carb and pump my vaccuum pressure was at 21 psi. I turned the mixture screws to the point of where you feel it like its going to kill and then I turned it right back. I thought I should have more air flow now that I am pumping more fuel but this is the way someone recommended it to me. I did not post this thread in the 302 section because I thought the moderators would throw in this forum. Well like I said the smoke is normal cloudy color but only noticable during cold engine starts. It does not smoke consistently but you can cleary see one smoking more than the other.
