Question Engine stumbles on acceleration

I just finished changing all my plugs (see the following thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=241380 )
Anyway, when the car is idling, the engine is nice and smooth. When I accelerate, it begins to stumble a little. If I press harder on the gas, it smooths out. I know that before I changed the plugs I was getting an O2 sensor code. I haven't gotten any codes yet. Could the stumbling be an O2 sensor related issue?

It could be, you'll likely set a code if there is a problem. I always start with what changed last, going over connections and such.

I'd suggest replacing the #4 plug again.

Make sure all your vacuum lines are good, tight and connected.

to clarify the problem....when starting from idle up to about 45mph, everything is fine....when accelerating from there, it stumbles.

Possibly the fuel filter is clogged? and or transmission downshift problems?
Hope you find out what it is.. good luck

Well, I looked under the hood a little while ago. I did look quickly, but I couldn't find any disconnected vacuum hoses. All of this started after I changed out the spark plugs. I installed Bosch Platinums. The Expy will drive ok up to about 55-60mph. After that, any further acceleration will cause stumbling. I get the same type of stumbling when driving up a hill. I'm not sure where to go from here.

If it could possibly be the Bosh Platinums (not +2 or +4), what plugs should I put in?
I am really not looking forward to another plug change.

The best bet would be to go with the OEM Motorcraft Platinum plugs. I recently put them in my 98 and I've had no problems. I don't blame you wanting to change plugs again!

While I have yet to get to plug changes, I have read other threads here about how bad this get with the Bosch plugs...........and everyone who has gone this route has returned to the Autolite plugs that came in these things originally.
Good Luck to ya.

I looked in the trash to see exactly what plugs I removed. They were Autolite 103's, which were working pretty well, just an occasional miss, which I believe were caused by COP #3 which I replaced during this spark plug change. Should I go back to the Autolite 103's or the APP103? The 103's are resistor plugs and the APP103's are double platinum.

How many miles are on you Expy? I would go with what you originally had, but maybe call the local ford dealer and ask if the double's are ok.

I have 101,500 miles. I removed Autolite 103's not AP103's or APP103's. According to the AutoZone and Autolite websites, all the above are compatible, with the APP103 being the OE style.

I'm not 100% sure that Autolites are equivalent to Motorcrafts (Autolite may make and then badge with Motorcraft's name). To be safe, I'm only installing Motorcraft plugs in mine when the time comes (soon).

KeithE524,
For my 98 I used the following plug.
Motorcraft model # AGSF22WM
I'm pretty sure that these will work for your '99.
