Just hoping to get some input on high high most are seeing. I have the edge with attitude (at present time), hog 4" exhaust, 35" tires, and while towing a enclosed 7x16 trailer at 65-70mph, I'm seeing 950-1000F. This is while running in 1-3 or 2-3 on the attitude. Any input would be greatly appreciated, I'm planning on the first trip with new truck tomarrow, but I don't want to harm anything! Thanks again!
This is what I had planned, but I just afraid there may be another problem or issue. I understand these engines run higher than the 7.3's, but my 7.3 only ran 750-800 with same trailer.
I'm sure they do, I was just hoping not to have created that much heat! Have you heard anything about "blocking off" or un-plugging egr valve? I read somewhere that this may decrease temps as much as 100-150f! By-the-way, thanks for your imput!
Just got back from a 3000 mile trip,I have edge/attitute my exhaust temps were at 1000 to 1225 at about 75 mph and 2200 rpm , when i dropped to 65 to 70 mph at 19 to 21 rpm temps were 850 to 1050 . Keep in mind though take your foot off the peddle a little andyour temp goes way down . If you press that peddle to the floor with a load you will see the temp go quickly to 1300 or higher
HCF250 I suggest you play with the settings , speed and rpm on your haul and by the time you get back you will know whats going on.
I had to set my egt at 1250 alert is at1275 ,boost is at 29
Iam learning as Igo to but this web site really helps
Towing my 10,000+ toyhauler with the truck stock, my high EGTs was in the low 1100s up an 8% grade. Typical highs up grades were in the 1000 to 1050 range. Outside temp was in the 90's to near 100 deg F.
Received my Superchips Microtuner last week and loaded the Performance Tune. Peak EGT recorded on my test run was 1163 deg F and 31.8 lbs boost up a 10% grade not too far from my house. Typical non full throttle runs up the same grade are in the 900 to 1000 deg F range and less than 28 lbs boost.
My load was light maybe 2500lbs ,I would like to tow a heavy load just to see the difference in temps
I guess if you dont try to stay below 1300 you should be in good shape.
dhunters temps seem right on the money for that load and speed
Kaloha (not that I'm an expert) yours seem high for that load. I'd set it lower the 1300 if the pyro is post turbo because there is usually 100-200 degree diff. So even though backdown is at 1300 your real temp could be 1500 or higher
That sounds a lot better now that I know it's pre turbo - most are installed post turbo. I personally think pre turbo is better. 1250 would sound fine then
I too am running edge/attitude, 4" hog exhauset and 35" tires...currently with 3.73's gear (soon to change to 4.30's) and would say your temps are about right. I get egt's between 750-950 on flat ground empty on 90 degrees F day. Driving in the mountains and hills when pulling a grade under acceleration I have seen close to 1100 degrees. See thread (Trying to Understand EGT and its effects) for more info.
