Howdy out there in FORD LAND.
I am new to your forum, but I would sure appreciate some help. I just installed a new 2.9 long block in my 90 Ford Ranger and everything went well, but I have a hesitation when I am driving it. This is an occasional thing, but sometimes it worse than others. I have checked fuel pressure, and it is fine. I have also put in a new rotor, distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, and a new coil. I also cleaned the fuel tank and added a new fuel filter. If anyone out there can help me find the solution for this problem I would sure appreciate it.
Thank you much Mick.
I would start by running the computer self-tests. It can be tough diagnosing these intermittent faults, but there might be a fault that the computer can see/has seen that can point in the right direction.
Is your hesitation like a sudden loss of power that jerks you forward in your seat momentarily and then keeps going like nothing happened until it does it again 5 minutes later. That's the issue I had with my 89 BII. I figured it was due to the 195K it had on it. Took it to a mechanic to have it checked out, and of course I could not get the damned thing to do it. They did a diagnostic on it and came up with no codes and charged me $50. Oh well. Good Luck.
