To Jmm, Don't let this Paul give you that crap about being on back order. He tried too pull that on me... He's a liar... I don't know if you live close to Paul or even in the same state but some of the guys need too take action... Good luck, colt 45
This guy's going out of business. I sent him 765.00 and he didn't send the parts. Had too go after him to get my money back. Then he wrote another check on my acount for 800.00 and had to chace him down again. He's bad news guys stay away from Ford Truck Supply... colt 45
If ya scroll down to the bottom his phone number is still there. I wonder if it still works............

Scum like this should be hounded out of business!

Ram cylinder
I have a hydraulic assist ram cylinder with mounting attachments from a 76 f-250 hi-boy in good condition if you're still looking for one
I hope they're not still looking after 13 years.
Mine: Garrison Valve with Bendix Cylinder
1973/77 High Boys (F250 4WD Regular & Crew Cab's) offered (optional) Power Assist P/S which has nothing to do with the steering gearbox. The manual gearbox is used w/ or w/o P/S.
There were TWO totally different types of Power Assist P/S. The parts do not interchange.
All 1973's, 1974's before serial number T80,001 used GARRISON Power Assist P/S.
1974's from serial number T80,001, 1975/76's and 1977's before serial number Y20,001 (**) used BENDIX Power Assist P/S.

So anyone reading this thread from way back when, don't just read what is stated as fact with a schematic because chances there are likely some variations that will fly in your face. Measure your cylinder if you are not sure but they DID interchange some of these. Why? Perhaps parts shortages at the time of the transition (mine is a 1973 and they may have been using up what was left). Perhaps the system was added by the dealership, at the dealership. I can tell you the only real difference between the cylinders (Bendix/Garrison) is the length. Theoretically, if you moved the attachment point either of the cylinders would work. Same hoses reach and are called for through all years, you check that out too.
POINT IS: Not everything is as cut and dry as this "not Interchangeable" statement. I can upload photos and email conversations with Lares Corp, Redhead and others that also confirm this. Earl from Lares Corp specifically because he is the one that finally had me go out to the truck and put a tape measure to my cylinder (Bendix) because THIS THREAD originally led me to believe mine was a Garrison cylinder because my Garrison Valve would not interchange. Thanks to Earl for helping me clear that up.
They obviously did mix them in a few cases AND they DO interchange or somehow my system has EVOLVED and learned to GET ALONG? My system is working fine with this mix (it was the original conf for this truck/no mods that I can tell) so even if I am wrong about it coming that way originally and some yahoo mixed it up, it is still not entirely correct cause they do work and are interchangeable.
Wrote this to save someone potential days of research, ordering and returning parts.
Side Note: Just because the system is dated and somewhat problematic does not mean you should just gut it and replace it with another system. There is a cool factor to having original components. Throw it all out and put in an electric or cut your frame and put in an integral PS? Yea, sure. Then when you show your truck you can explain all the new technical changes and modernization you did to the classic truck to make it what it is not longer....Original. Maybe just fix the **** correctly, painful as it is and keep the nostalgia. Just my take. Everyone wants to dump em, I say restore em and instead of telling someone what the Truck had originally in 25 different locations, you could show them. Even if it dripped once in a while (dripping not longer but may again someday) I would rather that then some Frankentruck Mod in 25 places all over the vehicle explaining what the truck used to be.
