I have been looking into the Toyota power steering kit for my 55 f100. Has anyone used another type of power steering box besides Toyota for this???? any recomendations for suitable power steering boxes to try?????
Thanks in advance

None that i have heard of. here's a list of tech articles . . .

53-79 F-Series Steering & Suspension .: Articles

and the steering box build one . . .

Toyota Steering Box Swap For 1948-1960 Trucks .: Articles

it gives info on other ones to use, but the best is the Yota PS Box. IMO

I put the Toyota on my F3 this year and have to say it`s well worth it.
Easy to install and makes the steering if nothing else `too`easy.
I`d be inclined to stick with the tried and tested.Just my opinion.

Im also shopping for the toyota power steering box and hoses and mounting stuff, where is the best place to call for new or rebuilt. I've been through all the junk yards around here for quite a few miles and nothing came up. No Toyotas that fit the decription.

Try the Toyota 4X4 clubs/forums. They may have a classified ad section.

I bought 2 off Kijiji...always seems to be a couple on there.
I have a 'spare' but I'm guessing shipping would be a killer.

I've had good luck finding them on here: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
They are very sturdy, so buying a used one is a pretty safe bet. Be sure to get the hoses or at least the hose fittings, the return hose uses a mongrel 17mm fitting at the box. Carquest and NAPA used to list the rebuilt boxes, I haven't looked recently. Mid Fifty Mid Fifty F-100 Parts - Home offers rebuilt boxes as well as all the needed conversion parts.
