74 f250 4x4 power steering

I stopped and looked at a 1974 Highboy that was for sale. I thought at first that it didn't have power assist steering because there weren't any of the usual hoses or ram on the front end.

I popped the hood and found that it did have power steering??? This is not the usual custom power steering add on that I have seen described here. It looks like the original armstrong steering box was used along with the drag link and pitman. A "power adapter"??(I don't know what else to call it, never seen one before) was intalled between it and the column. The steering column was shortened and rebolted to the front of the "adapter".

I got a number off of the "adapter" along with some wording.......62200 B and SCHRILLO and either CO LA or COLA.

I will try and get a couple of pic's to put on here if the guy that owns it will let me.

Has anyone ever seen a set up like this before? If so where can I get one?

Thanks, Nick

The original is called power assist. It sucked when it was new and it still sucks. You can get a conversion to upgrade the the real steering box type power steering. There is a guy who sells them on ebay. Just do a search for "highboy power steering conversion" and you will find it.
As for the power adaptor, It sounds like what was used on some Ford tractors. I remember seeing what looked like a ratio adaptor with lines going into it on some older (70's era) tractors. Take care
