Side mounted tool box - how rare?
How rare is this, and is it worth buying? Given the choice between a really clean truck without the tool box and a rougher example with the box, which would you choose? The truck with the tool box has been hit in the right front, so I'd still have to go looking for fenders, grill, etc. The truck without the tool box has far less rust, fewer dents, and is complete. I really can't afford both.
The tool box is rare. I've been a fan for over twenty years and have only seen maybe a dozen.
But what does that mean? Nothing! A good clean body is priceless. A tool box is really just something else to worry about.
Think about how much trouble it is to pull a rusty, dented body from the edge of the grave. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
Go with the good body and thank god for the opprtunitiy to start off with something good.

Thanks for the opinions. The bed with the tool box is salvageable, but it would take some work & like I said, it still leave some scrounging for other parts. I think I'll be much better off buying the other truck and having a nice, straight, complete body.
droidster, I'll try and post some pictures of my highboy and the donor as a "before" shot and follow up with the "after" as soon as I get it done.
Getting married in about six weeks, though, so my trucks may have to wait until July!
