Fm Motown Fire
Ok today shortly after I wrote the above reply the service rep called me and said my truck is ready. So I go and pick it up and about 3 miles down the road it dies.....again....
Do we now have to ask if the dealership's tech actually test drove the truck, prior to your being told it was ready to be picked up. ?????
Your results so shortly after picking up the truck clearly indicates that they simply did not test drive the truck, which would also strongly suggest that they don't even check their work. Sad, but we must not be suprised, for the history continues on the workmenship for repair effortts. BTW: does this dealership even have a Ford Certified Diesel Tech ??? And finally: what is the name of this dealership ????? Other truckers must be warned.....

Luke,
As I said above, this is really not something the customer should have to worry about. If they're pushing these trucks out the front door, they better be able to work on them around back.

We can and will all agree with that….however, what can an indavidual do to assure this is true.
Why should an individual need to assure it? If I call the phone company with a problem, for example, I don't have to assure that the tech I'm talking to the guy they send out is certified. The only thing I really care about as an end customer is if they fix the problem and don't cause any others.

Because the dealerships are not giving us the confidence, they can perform the work properly.
One must take it upon themselves to make sure (if Ford will not) the service meets our requirements.
You have read, “How many certified diesel technicians does your dealership have”
Their are MANY that do the work, well.
A few still have problems.
Yes they do have 2 certified diesel mechanics and the Service Manager is also a 6.0 liter mechanic. But anyways here it is Friday and I am at work for 24 hours and still no truck. It might be ready today because they called me and told me that they got the FICM in that they are gonna replace. Even if they finish it today I won't beable to get it back till' Tues. because they are closed on sat, sunday and I work on monday for another 24 hours......Fun huh........

Sad, sad deal when I'm expected to demand to see the mechanics certificate/diplomas to make sure I have at least a chance of getting my truck fixed right. Sure doesn't inspire much loyalty in a brand that doesn't bother training folks to work on the stuff they sell.
Well I finnaly got the truck back on Saturday. It actually runs. They had to replace the FICM. I am still thinking about doing a DSB or most likely trading the problem child in for an 04'. For those of you that have done a DSB what did they pay you for your truck? Retail or wholesale minus milage??
I think it is whatever deal you can cut with Ford. From what I have heard they will try to get you to take some deals before the DSB hearing. This is just what i have heard.
I have a friend that went through this on a Chevy truck and he said chevy settled the day before the hearing. He said chevy told him the whole time he didn't have a case. HUM, he must have had a case because they baught his truck back. So they may try to bully you around, and then again they may not. Don't know but i will let ya'll know as soon as i hear something from the DSB. Someone had posted one time about this and said to be firm on what you expect, but be nice about it. They say you can attract more bees with honey than viniger.
