Loud speedometer!

My speedometer is getting louder and louder on my 88. It sounds like I need to grease something up. Is this possible and how hard and what do I grease?

funny, mine is starting to make noise as well...never noticed it until last week after I went wheeling through water.

Really? I have not been through high water lately. It seems like it is coming from right behind the dash.

You're supposed to grease the speedometer cable core from time to time (has ANYBODY done that EVER?), so that could be the noise, but it sounds more like your speedo head is going bad.
