Hey all - another new truck owner here...trying to figure out what size engine I have.
The engine is NOT Original...Here's what I know:
1. 75 Ford F-100 - (vin reads that the orignal was a 302)
2. Edelbrock Heads, 4-barrel Edelbrock carb, Headers, electronic ignition, not sure of the firing order.
3. Autolite AP-45 plugs currently in the truck- this is my stongest clue that the engine is not a 302 - my local auto parts store gave me AP-25 plugs for replacements, and insisted that's what should go in a 302. the AP-25 threads are much smaller than the 45's.
4. I've been replacing iginition parts slowly over the last few weeks, and have installed a starter that I got assuming it is a 302 - and it works great...what other engines would this starter work on?
5. I can get the truck to crank just fine, but it won't turn over. I'm sure I have some mismatched ignition parts - cap, rotor, coil, whatever.
thanks for any insight you can provide.
Is there an ID code on the engine block? Or can you call Edelbrock with a part number from the heads to get more information?
there are 5 bolts...and where exactly do I look for the stamp under the starter? I have replaced the starter, and casually looked, but didn't see anything
