Thumbs down 302 problems

I have rebiult 79 302 in my bronco It has 68 heads and pistions, Ran good til I upgraded it . By putting an Edelbrock Performer series 500 cfm carb, performer 289 intake and a performer plus cam Idle-5,500 range, i'm running Petrnix coil wires and solid state ignition, headers and K&N filter, I've been messing with it for 2 weeks now and I can't the bugs worked out of it. It runs good when u first start it but once it gets warmed up it burns reals rich and has no power from Idle till the 4barrel kicks in. Fouled plugs like crazy. If you pump throttle about 10 times 3/4 to 1 inch in it will load up with fuel and stall out. If I disconnect the accelerater pump it burns clean and has the reasponse I want, but duh it falls on its face when the 4barral kicks in, I cannot figure it out I have messed with my timing and I also tried a hotter Plug AP45. seemed to have more power with stock 2 brrl.

try a different carb....one off a running truck- car that you know is good. When you do a bunch of upgrades at once it's hard to tell which one is failing......you have to start somewhere..

Sounds to me like it's getting way too much fuel...

How is the oil does it smell like gas?

Sounds like the floats are too high.

the oil doesn't smell like gas < I tried lowering the floats that did not help, I'm going to try a 600cfm carb of a running truck today hopefully.

Itried the carb ahhh, in the process of removing my 500cfm I found it was leaking fuel arounf the base gasket, I also put another new set of intake man. gaskets on to be safe. Got rid of some of the problems it no longer stalls after pumping throttle apears to burn cleaner but still feels as if it loads up with fuel sometimes when floaring it
