what happened to the Superchips thread?
Is the claim guaranteed in writing?, If so will SuperChips cover any repair costs Ford refuses, if the tuner is ordered from a authorized dealer such as Motorhaven.
At this point, it becomes your responsibility.
When you set the truck back to stock with our tuner, it is 100% back to stock and Ford has know way of knowing it was changed.
The bottom line here is you need to decide whether a tune is for you.....
When I added another 100HP at the tire of my 03 cobra, I realized that if something happens I MAY have to fight Ford and maybe have a warranty issue becuase of my changed supercharger pulley and longtube headers.
If something happens to the car, I'll have to de-mod it before I go back to the dealer.
This is solely my responsibility.
I could have chosen to leave my car 100% stock....but that woud be no fun =o)
If you don't feel right about modding your truck, don't mod it.
I will personally never drive a "stock" car and will never drive anything I can't manipulate the PCM on =o)
I have modded different parts of virtually every vehicle I have ever owned from sports cars to Jeeps to trucks etc. Before beginning those mods I knew the risk when something breaks.
The difference here is that your claim, that Ford will not be able to trace the mod, could sway the decision to buy the SuperChips product.
Obviously, how Ford detects the mod (i.e. I forget to reprogram the PCM) would make a difference but from your answer is it safe to assume that this claim is not backed up by any written statements or warranty.
I am not trying to grill you or put you on the spot. I think your product is excellent and will probably end up with a SC tuner for my PSD but the claim that Ford cannot trace the mod and therefore it would have no impact on warranty is contrary to other information floating around. At this point if you cannot provide a written guarantee I think making hte claim is bad business, and indicates that your company is not 100% sure this is true.

Ford can not trace the mod if it has been set back to stock.
This is truth, though not a legal document.
I do not have an "official document" saying this nor is it my job to produce one as I am not involved in the legal side of things. Please contact customer serivice and they will get you in touch with the correct people to discuss legal matters.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
According to the Predator people... even though no trace or codes will appear after re-setting the computer back to factory tune, there WILL be a date shown of last update!!!
This means that the Ford Motor Company Oasis program shows your truck was flashed with the latest update of 12/12/03, but now it shows a most recent flash of May 1st (still same flash version number), but why the new date??? No codes are left, but one could assume that the truck was flashed by someone other than a Ford dealer.
Be careful and ask about the Superchips fully!!!
In the end, Ford MAY try and say "chipping hurt your engine"... then you go to Superchips... and they say "we are not responsbile".... and your left out cold in the middle.
Do your homework and draw your own conclusions... not conclusions from others.
Good luck,
Jeff
