I am in the process of buying a 2000 f-250,power stroker,4x4,
crewcab,shortbox,6spd,XLT with Lariat upgrade from my dad. The truck has 195,000kms on and i know it's history like new clutch,brakes and matinence but i was wondering since it has been used from mostly pulling on the highway how long do these run before anything major has to be done or be replaced?? I would like to here from people who have alot of miles on the 99 and newer trucks and hear what they have to say about it.
Also, I can buy a Superchip Micro Tuner for $300--canadian and what mods should i do to it if any, before i pull a 32ft gooseneck,loaded, in the 60hp mode??? This is beside the point but does having the chip wear down the life of the engine if I don't try to pull heavier loads than what the truck is rated for or bag the hell out of it??
I WANT THE TRUTH ABOUT THESE CHIPS NO BULL#####!!
I would also like to hear from people who have had trouble with the 6 speeds in the powerstrokes or the highmiled engines.
Also what other small mods can i do to improve horses on the engine????
I have a 99 PSD and i have had it since it was new and i have 142K miles on it. i have had to redo the brakes and i have put 2 clutches in it. I has been pulling since i bought it.We have a four horse slant with a full living quaters.pulled it about the first 80K and i just bought a 32 ft. gooesneck trailer. The first clutch went out a 70k miles and the second at 141K miles.

myst , i have a 99 psd , 6 spd-----absolutely no problems---but i'm getting kinda scared since i started reading about the clutches going out around 80k---what does it cost to have this situation fixed----I've got to start saving my pennies---thanks , fd
